The Garden

Surrounded by pastureland which gives it a peaceful rural atmosphere, Greenlaw has been developed from bare lawn since 1991.

Planned in garden rooms with winding paths and pergolas, this garden is softened with self-seeding flower beds a sunken garden, edged with brick, featuring a sundial and planted with cream roses and lavender, lends a semi-formal air.

The garden features some
150 old roses, including favourites such as 'Souvenir de Malmaison' and 'Albertine' which adorn the house verandah. Spring at Greenlaw is a time of cherry blossom, bulbs, magnolias and forget-me-not's. The perennials, roses and daisies take over in summer, then the silver birches and gleditsia feature in autumn along with tall blue salvias, roses and perennial lobelias.
