The Garden

The garden has been developed over the last `10 years from a bare farm paddock. Every stone and shrub has been brought in. In planting we first dig out raw pumice and fill with imported topsoil, which we collect from a river flat area of our property. Over the time of developing we have repeated this process 100's of times. As it is pumice we also need to use mulch, over the 10 years we have applied 56 truck loads of bark and still continuing.

The garden has grown, originally 2 acres, then in 2007 a further 3 acres have been added, which is still in its developing stage and will for a while yet. There is no best time to visit as it is continually changing with the seasons. The plant range is wide and varied and colour throughout the seasons. Many sculptures and structures add to interest. Meandering paths and hidden seats.
