The Garden

The Garden is fifteen years old, although some trees and shrubs are a little older. We have a rich loam soil and plants just thrive. So does every seed the birds drop! This is a garden for all seasons, I have tried to have something of interest at all times of the year from winter through to autumn. Magnolias Camellias, Rhododendrons and Roses all do well. Although I do not have a large collection of any one species I try to have a little of most things. I do have a passion for paeonies and they grow well here and flower from late October to early December.

The Gardener

I grew up in Christchurch, the Garden City. I have gardening in my veins and come from a family of passionate gardeners. I can wander round my garden and perfumes will remind me of my childhood, my parents garden and that of my aunts. This is my second garden, my first being at Bideford, a continual struggle with cloggy clay soils, constant gales and the ever battle with those wretched opossums. So after years of struggle I think I deserve this garden. My Husband Ashby attends the lawns, disposes of all the prunings and the rubbish and is an enormous help.
